  • Ellen Barry
    CIO
    Metropolitan Pier & Exposition Authority


    As the CIO for the Metropolitan Pier & Exposition, Ellen Barry has successfully implemented revenue generating initiatives by insourcing the delivery of Internet and Technical Services to Exhibitors, Show Management and Meeting Planners. She has installed revenue generating wireless services throughout McCormick Place and Navy Pier and implemented a gigabit circuit to ‘next generation networks’ including Internet2.

    Prior to MPEA, Barry was part of the Mayor’s effort to re-invent City Government in the area of technology. Barry held the position of first Deputy CIO for the City of Chicago, responsible for two major outsourcing initiatives. Previous to this role, Barry worked with Chicago’s Police Department in numerous IT and Strategic Planning activities including efforts toward implementation of a major Criminal History Records Information System. Prior to coming to the City of Chicago, Barry worked as an internal consultant for various private sector organizations in strategic IT development, planning and project implementation.

    Barry holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a MBA in Quantitative Methods and Computers from Loyola University. Barry is the recipient of the 2003 Excellence in Corporate IT Leadership Award presented by WITI (Women in Technology, International) Chicago Chapter.



  • Hardik Bhatt
    CIO
    City of Chicago


    Hardik Bhatt was appointed as the CIO by Chicago's Mayor Richard M Daley in February 2006. He is also the Commissioner for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT). As the CIO and the Commissioner of DoIT, Bhatt’s role is to protect City’s existing investment in IT while identifying and implementing new and innovative technology solutions that deliver efficiencies in serving constituents and visitors of the City of Chicago.

    Specifically, Bhatt strives to implement Mayor Daley's vision of a city government that benefits from an assimilation of best practices from both the public sector and the private industry by raising the level of service provided to citizens, businesses and tourists. Bhatt oversees several Technology Implementations, Mobile Solutions and Information Sharing projects. This primarily includes improvements in collection and sharing of information across various City agencies and dissemination within agencies and to the general public. Bhatt is also responsible for streamlining the city’s various business processes, integrating multiple enterprise systems, and implementing a city-wide Geographic Information Service.

    Bhatt is leading charge for Mayor Daley for universal and affordable broadband for all Chicagoans through various initiatives. Bhatt is also spearheading Mayor Daley's vision of career academies in the technology sector. The first technology academy, supported by more than 80 large and small businesses, will open its doors in fall 2009.



  • Dave Diedrich
    VP Technology, Security & Workplace Services
    Kraft Foods, Inc.


    Dave Diedrich is the VP, Technology, Security and Workplace Services at Kraft Foods. He is responsible for setting Kraft Foods technology, application, information and security policies and standards. Included in his focus is connecting to consumers through technology. He also leads the efforts for improving the end user experience for all Kraft Foods employees and reducing the cost of IS services at the company.

    Diedrich recently celebrated his 25th year at Kraft Foods. Throughout his career, his responsibilities have supported every Kraft Foods business, function and division. These responsibilities included database management, logistics, supply chain and research, development and quality systems. Prior to his current position, Diedrich was appointed Information Systems Vice President for the company’s North American SAP Implementation.

    He holds a B.S. in Computer Science and an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.



  • Mark Goetze
    Vice President, Information Technology
    Baxter International, Inc.


    Mark Goetze is the Vice President of Information Technology for Baxter Healthcare’s Medication Delivery division, a $4.5 billion business unit of the parent Baxter International. As VP of IT, Goetze is responsible for all Information Technology resources and initiatives within the global Medication Delivery business.

    Prior to joining Baxter, Goetze was with ITT Corporation in White Plains, NY where he led the creation of ITT’s first enterprise-level IT organization. His major projects included consolidation of ITT’s global infrastructure environments and management of large-scale application implementations including SAP financials and HRMS. Prior to his contributions at ITT, Goetze worked at Cannon Electronics in Irvine, California where he was the Director of e-Business for Cannon’s global mobile communications division. Before Cannon, Goetze was a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy.

    Goetze earned a B.S. in Business from the University of Southern California and a M.B.A. from Duke University.



  • John Golden

    CNA Financial Corporation


    John has dual responsibility for CNA’s Information Technology and Worldwide Operations organizations. In this role as CIO, John is responsible for the global information technology strategy and all of the company’s IT assets including: company-wide application development, data management, technology infrastructure, and data center operations. In conjunction with his leadership of IT, John has responsibility for CNA back office business processes for the insurance operations.  This includes policy administration, customer contact centers, premium audit, and billing and collections.


    Under John’s leadership, the organization has been recognized over the years by Agency Management partners with innovative solution awards, Computerworld magazine 100 best places to work, CIO 100, Insurance & Technology and InformationWeek 500. John’s vision and leadership approach has garnered him recognition in the industry as The Executives’ Club of Chicago CIO of the Year, Insurance and Technology Elite Award winner. In addition, John has spoken at numerous industry forums on wearing both “hats” of IT and business operations, and how a CIO operates as a key senior leader in the enterprise.


     

    Before joining CNA in 2001, John spent nearly 15 years in the telecom industry, beginning his career in IT, and then expanding into business operations and product management roles. Previously, John was with Ameritech/SBC where he was responsible for delivering the company’s Customer Care and Billing IT capabilities for approximately 30 million customers across Ameritech’s regions.


    Prior to SBC, John spent six years at GTE (now part of Verizon), where he held a variety of technical and management positions and pioneered GTE’s “commercialization” of their Carrier Access system to international telephone companies.

  • John Heller
    VP & CIO
    Caterpillar Inc.


    John Heller is VP and CIO of Caterpillar Inc. He has responsibility for Caterpillar’s Global Information Services Division, which includes the corporation’s IT and dealer business systems.

    In his most recent position, prior to being named a VP by the Caterpillar Board of Directors in 2003, Heller directed Caterpillar's IT Solutions group.

    Heller joined Caterpillar in 1973, holding a variety of accounting, manufacturing and planning positions at the Decatur, Ill. manufacturing facility. The majority of his more than 35-year career with the company has focused on IT, including support for finance, manufacturing, marketing and dealer systems. Heller spent three years as a division information systems manager in Geneva, Switzerland, before returning to the U.S. in technology management assignments with Caterpillar's Corporate Services and Engine Products divisions. In 2001, Heller was named director of Caterpillar's Global IT Solutions, the then-largest department of the company's Systems + Processes Division.

    Heller earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Millikin University, Decatur, Ill., and a M.B.A from the University of Illinois at Urbana. He also has completed the Caterpillar Advanced Management Program.

    Heller is a past member of the University of Illinois Executive M.B.A. Board. He is certified in production and inventory management and a member of the American Production and Inventory Control Society. He chairs Carter Machinery Company Board. Heller is also a member of the Research Board, the OSF Saint Francis Medical Center Community Advisory Board, the Country Club of Peoria Board, and sits on the Heartland Water Resources Council.



  • Daniel Hill
    SVP & CIO
    Exelon Corporation


    Daniel Hill is Senior Vice President and CIO of Exelon Business Services Company where he is responsible for managing all aspects of information technology and telecom across the corporation. His focus is on leveraging technology, processes and resources to help transform Exelon's businesses into world-class operations. Hill was named Vice President and CIO in May 2003 and was promoted to Senior Vice President in November 2004.

    Hill has over 20 years of experience with Exelon and ComEd, including a variety of technology management positions. He previously served as Vice President of IT for Exelon Business Services Company, the shared services organization providing support to Exelon's business units. In this position, Hill had overall responsibility for BSC IT, as well as IT governance for all of Exelon. Under his leadership, Exelon centralized its entire IT organization, focusing strategically and tactically on consolidation, functional integration, process standardization, reinvigorated governance, cost reduction and oversight. In his career, Hill has supported all of the major operating units at Exelon.

    Hill was named one ofComputerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders in 2007.Computerworld's Premier 100 IT Leaders Awards Program honors executives who show exemplary technology leadership in resolving pressing business problems.

    Hill has served on the board of the Exelon Political Action Committee since 2002. Outside Exelon, Hill serves on the board of the Chicago Public Library Foundation, which is dedicated to partnering with the City of Chicago to enrich the collections and programs of the Chicago Public Library. He also serves as a member of the board of trustees for Dominican University. He is a member of the Society for Information Management, the Association of Information Technology Professionals and the Executives Club of Chicago where he is also a member of the Technology and Strategy Group. Hill has served as a judge for the 2006 and 2007 IT Resource Center's (ITRC) Technology Leadership Awards. The ITRC assists nonprofit organizations in achieving their missions by encouraging innovation, investment, and effective use of technology.

    Hill holds a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics from Lewis University in Illinois.



  • Mark Keating

    Working as Director, Platform Marketing for Research In Motion (RIM), Mark Keating is responsible for shaping how RIM brings to market the evolving portfolio of business-focused BlackBerry software and service solutions. For the last decade, Keating has been focused on helping organizations realize the potential of mobility by understanding how it can be leveraged to drive business innovation, collaboration, and measurable returns on investment.

    Keating holds an honours Business degree and joined RIM in 2002. Prior to joining RIM, Mark held various positions in Canada and Europe with a leading vendor of wireless network infrastructure, and as a consultant to global high-tech organizations.



  • Lem Lasher
    Chief Innovation Officer
    Computer Sciences Corporation


    Lem Lasher is President of Global Business Solutions and Services within CSC. He is also VP and Chief Innovation Officer with CSC's Office of Innovation, which includes The Leading Edge Forum; The Research Network; Global Solutions Organization; Corporate Alliances and Knowledge Management & Enablement. Prior to this assignment, Lasher held numerous Managing Director positions within CSC's European Group, including: BAE Systems global account; European Consulting; CSC Belgium and Luxembourg; and Director, industry practices for Benelux.

    Lasher joined the CSC European Group in 1992, as Director of Network Integration, Europe, where he was responsible for CSC’s network and telecommunications activities in Europe. He joined CSC in 1990 as Director, Commercial Program Development for the Network Integration Division. From 1984 until joining CSC, Lasher was VP for Integrated Software Resources, Inc. He also held executive positions at Deca Group, Inc.; Aitta, Inc.; Investment Seminars, Inc.; Elan Vital, Inc.

    Lasher attended Baldwin Wallace College and Friedrich Wilhems University, where he studied German literature and philosophy.



  • Julie Lindley

    Nalco Holding Company


    Julie Lindley is the IT Process Manager at Nalco Company, the market leader in integrated water treatment and process improvement. Lindley is responsible for managing several internal IT processes including the PMO and the company's ITIL-based Change Management process. Along with these processes, she also leads IT efforts in the company's cost reduction initiatives. Starting in 2009, the company's new CIO, Stewart McCutcheon, introduced the concept of using the Scrum methodology for project implementations. Lindley leads the Nalco Scrum practice and is now introducing this new methodology not only to the IT organization, but to the company as a whole.

    Lindley has been with Nalco for eight years, with four years spent in a product marketing role and the past four years in various roles in the IT organization. Prior to joining Nalco, she worked as a process engineer for International Paper. Lindley holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and an M.B.A from North Central College.

    McCutcheon brings a unique blend of Business and IT experience to Nalco. He served as CEO and CTO for Acsis, a leading supply chain software provider and SAP partner. From 2001-2006, he was COO and CTO for Elemica, a business-to-business e-commerce solution provider to the chemical industry. Prior to Elemica, McCutcheon served in a variety of global business, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and IT management roles for DuPont. McCutcheon has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.



  • Bill Rollwitz, Ph.D.

    Dr. Bill Rollwitz is an Organizational Psychologist working primarily with senior executives focused on executive coaching and leadership development. His practice incorporates more than 28 years of hands-on executive level experience in industry coupled with a doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. He is driven to make a difference in the lives of his clients by helping them become world-class leaders.

    His industry experience includes serving as the President and CEO of a software company providing solutions to the energy sector; President and CEO of a global IT company; SVP and CTO of PG&E Energy Trading and Gas Transmission; and Regional Managing Partner for KPMG Peat Marwick's Management Consulting Division.   • Rick Roy

    Rick Roy is the CIO for CUNA Mutual Group, a leading provider of financial services to credit unions and their members worldwide. Roy leads all IT strategy, planning, and deployment for CUNA Mutual and its affiliates. He is also a member of the company's management Operating Council.

    Roy is a recognized thought leader in financial services, insurance and technology industries. He has been recognized by Insurance & Technology as an Elite 8 honoree for his vision, innovation, and leadership in the insurance industry, as well as has been quoted in several leading industry publications. Under his leadership, Roy’s IT organization has also been recognized by IDG's CIO magazine as a recipient of the “CIO 100” award four times in five years. Before being named CIO, Roy served as SVP of Customer Operations responsible for all customer service and operations including claims, call centers, and customer implementations and training. Prior to this role, Roy served as CTO responsible for technology strategy, application development, information security and technology infrastructure.

    Prior to joining CUNA Mutual, Roy was SVP and GM of product development for Metavante Corporation. Roy holds an M.B.A. from Marquette University and a B.S. in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He has completed several management programs at Harvard Law School and Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.



  • David Schacht

    David Schacht joined Simon Property Group in 1997 as Director of Application Development. In July of 1999, he was promoted to VP of Information Services and named to his current position of Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer in February of 2000. He previously served as Senior Consultant with The Morley Group, and held several managerial positions with Resort Condominiums International for 12 years.

    Schacht has served on panels for several industry conferences hosted by the International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute and The Realm. He currently is on the Board of Advisors for Hardin Geotech Industry and the CIO Executive Summit.



  • Greg Schwem

    Comedy With a Byte


    In good economic times and bad, corporate America consistently turns to Greg Schwem for laughs. Called “king of the hill in the world of corporate comedy” by the Chicago Tribune, Schwem’s presentation, “Comedy with a Byte,” has entertained audiences from coast to coast. Clients such as Microsoft, Cisco, General Motors, IBM and McDonald’s have invited him to share his hilarious views on technology and today’s business environment. Schwem delivers with observations on topics such as Blackberry abuse, social network overload, never-ending conference calls, “frequently” asked questions, text messaging addiction and home office workers. 
     
    Unlike many humorous speakers, Schwem researches every audience and customizes material so no two presentations are alike. Combining clean, inoffensive comedy with lightning fast ad-lib skills and PowerPoint slides, he takes his audiences on hilarious tours through their work environments. As Schwem recently told one newspaper reporter, “My clients hire me for approximately one hour. If I can’t take the time to find out as much as possible about them, I shouldn’t be in this business.”
     
    A former NBC television reporter, Schwem has numerous national television appearances to his credit and has shared the concert stage with the likes of Celine Dion and Jay Leno.  He also can be heard regularly on XM/Sirius Radio.



  • Karenann Terrell

    Baxter International, Inc.


    Karenann Terrell is corporate VP and CIO at Baxter and has responsibility for the company's global IT function supporting Baxter's businesses worldwide, including its sales, manufacturing, science and technology, and supply chain operations.

    Terrell joined Baxter in April 2006 from DaimlerChrysler Corporation where she most recently served as VP and CIO, Chrysler Group and Mercedes Benz North America. Prior to this, Terrell spent 16 years at General Motors where she had responsibility for brand development and e-business management.

    Terrell serves on the Mayor's Council of Technology Advisors for the City of Chicago and is a member of the Board of Directors for Women in Technology International.

    Terrell earned her Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, and her B.S. in the same field from General Motors Institute.

  • Francesco Tinto
    VP, IS Svc Delivery
    Kraft Foods, Inc.


    Francesco Tinto was appointed Information Systems Vice President at Kraft Foods in January 2008. He is responsible for Sales, Customer Service and Logistics, Marketing, Research & Development and Business to Business systems worldwide.

    Tinto has spent the last 19 years of his career in the Consumer Goods and Packaging industry. Prior to Kraft Foods, he held several positions at Procter & Gamble in Italy as part of the Information Systems function, responsible for local, regional and global efforts. He joined Kraft Foods in 2002 as the Information Systems Director Kraft Foods Italy. Tinto advanced through positions of increasing responsibility for global sales and supply chain systems.

    He is a member of the Information Systems Steering Committee for the Grocery Manufacturers Association.

    Tinto holds an Electronic Engineering Degree from Politecnico di Bari Italy.



  • David Zanca
    SVP eCommerce Technology
    FedEx Corporation


    David Zanca is responsible for bringing market leadership across the customer-facing domains of FedEx – the systems that support its world class customer service function, customer shipping solutions, FedEx Office digital-to-print eCommerce solutions, and the award winning fedex.com. A primary focus for Zanca is the extension of a ‘Connectedness’ strategy that embeds FedEx services into mobile devices and applications that customers use every day. Under his leadership, eCommerce Technology has developed the FedEx iPhone application, the MyFedEx web site, application plug-ins and a suite of Web Services. Zanca reports to Rob Carter, FedEx Executive VP and CIO.

    Prior to his current role, Zanca was SVP of IT with FedEx Freight where he led its IT strategy, operations, applications and infrastructure. Before that, Zanca was VP of FedEx Customer Systems, leading the design and development of customer automation solutions, fedex.com and Sales & Pricing systems. In 2001, Zanca was named the first FedEx CISO.

    Zanca received the CIO Magazine One’s to Watch Award in 2009. He was selected as one of <em>Computerworld’s</em> 2008 Premier 100 IT Leaders. He has spoken to major technology conferences on digital connectedness, application development trends and the strategic business value of Information Technology. He has been honored with a FedEx Five Star Award and named to numerous Who’s Who editions.

    Before joining FedEx, Zanca worked with Andersen Consulting for 12 years. He holds an M.B.A. from Emory University and a bachelor’s degree from Duke University. He holds professional certifications including Certified Public Accountant, General Information Assurance-Information Security Officer, Certified Data Processing Professional, and Certified Production and Inventory Control specialist.



  • Timothy Zoph
    SVP Administration & CIO
    Northwestern Memorial Hospital


    Tim R. Zoph serves as the SVP of Administration and CIO for Northwestern Memorial Hospital. This year marks his 16th anniversary at Northwestern Memorial and 22 years as a CIO in the health care industry. Zoph has earned graduate business degrees from the Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University and the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Utah.

    Through Zoph’s leadership, Northwestern Memorial has been awarded one of the 100 Most Wired Hospitals for eight years. He was recently named the 2008 CIO of the Year by the Executives’ Club of Chicago along with The Association of IT Professionals. Zoph is also a faculty member of the Chime CIO Boot Camp that is dedicated to training current and future IT leaders in the healthcare industry.
