  • Chris Buse
    CISO

     Christopher Buse is the Chief Information Security Officer for the State of Minnesota.  In this capacity, He is responsible for designing and implementing the enterprise security architecture for state government.  Before accepting this position, Buse served as the Manager of Information Technology Audits for the Minnesota Office of the Legislative Auditor.  During his 19 years as an auditor, he planned and oversaw information technology audit work done on large government computer systems.  Buse also provided state of the art technology tools and training for audit professionals.

    Buse graduated from St. Cloud State University with a B.S. in Accounting.  Since graduation, he has supplemented his accounting degree with numerous computer science and management information systems courses.  Buse is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). 

    Buse is active in many professional organizations and currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Multi State Information Sharing and Analysis Center.  He also sits on the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) International Professional Influence and Advocacy Committee, and has held numerous Board of Director positions in the Minnesota Chapter.  Buse was awarded the 2008 Security Professional of the Year by the Information Systems Security Association’s Minnesota Chapter. 



  • Miles Edmundson

    Wells Fargo: Rural Community Insurance Services


    Miles Edmundson is the Chief Information Security Officer at Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS). RCIS is owned by Wells Fargo and is the largest crop insurance company in the world.    His career in information security started more than 10 years ago when he began external and internal vulnerability testing of financial institutions. Quickly realizing that sitting quietly in a room with computers and not talking to anyone for 40 hours was not for him, Edmundson migrated to policy, procedure and social engineering engagements. Edmundson spent three years as Carlson's Information Security Manager, and in this role, he championed information security across their global organization.   Edmundson has a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and an M.B.A. in Business Finance from the Carlson School of Management.

  • Gary Eppinger

    Gary Eppinger CISA, MBB/QL

    Gary Eppinger is the Vice President, Enterprise Security & Risk Management at Supervalu. In his current role he provides vision and leadership for IT process compliance and security initiatives. He directs the integration of the Global Information Security Policy with the implementation of enterprise IT systems and business operations including retail and distribution centers. Gary is also responsible for Global IT Business Continuity and reports to the CIO for Supervalu.
     
    Gary comes to us with an extensive background in enterprise information security, auditing, disaster recovery programs, risk management, IT controls and processes. Gary has significant experience leading complex, global change management programs at several fortune 100 companies.

    Most recently, Gary was IT Security Director at Delphi. He also held the position of Vice President of Global Infrastructure Services for Banta Corporation, headquartered in Wisconsin.  Gary has previous experiences in IT security, infrastructure and engineering systems at Rockwell International and GE Healthcare. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Campbell University in North Carolina and is a certified six sigma master black belt from GE Healthcare.

    Gary is married and has four children.



  • Martha Gschneidner
    Director, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
    General Mills, Inc.


     As IT Director, Compliance & Continuous Improvement, Martha is currently responsible for Information Assurance, Project and Portfolio Management and Continuous Improvement.

    In previous roles at General Mills - Pillsbury, she managed data center operations, plant IS infrastructure, SAP HR systems integration, SAP Basis/ABAP, Wide Area Network design and developed recommendations for global infrastructure support after General Mills’ acquisition of the Pillsbury Company in 2001. Prior to joining Pillsbury, Martha spent 9 years at Chevron where she held a variety of Network Infrastructure positions.

    Martha holds a BS in Computer Science from Iowa State University.

     



  • Michael Kearn
    AVP & ISO

    As the Information Security Officer for Interest Rate Derivatives & Principal Investments Group, Mike is responsible for proactively managing risk as it pertains to reputation, regulatory, and overall operational risk. He is also accountable for the business continuity planning and management of privacy risk as it relates to technology. Mike brings more than eleven years of varied experience in Information Technology to his current role.   Prior to joining the firm in 2005, Mike held several other positions with Wells Fargo & Company, including roles as an IT Auditor, Application Developer and Application Architect. Prior to joining Wells Fargo & Company in 2002, Mike held various roles with US Bancorp Institutional Trust Operations.    Mike graduated from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn. with a bachelor’s degree in International Economics. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds the Information Assessment Methodology (IAM) certification issued by the United States Department of Defense National Security Agency (NSA).     Mike has been a featured panelist at events such as the CIO Finance Summit and CSO Magazine sponsored events.  In addition he has been a featured speaker for the Institute for Applied Network Security (IANS) conferences and is a member of their Technology Advisory Council (TAC). Finally, Mike has been a featured speaker to government agencies, including law enforcement and military personnel, on various information security topics.  

  • Chad Mead
    Technology Governance, Risk & Controls Global Leader & CISO

    Chad Mead is the Technology Governance, Risk and Controls (TGRC) global leader for Cargill, Incorporated, and is responsible for providing executive leadership in developing, planning, and supervising all technology and information risk and control operations. He is responsible for establishing enterprise-wide risk and control strategy, policies, metrics, change management, and decision rights related to information technology security.

    Chad came to Cargill from JPMorgan Chase & Co. where he served as the global head of infrastructure security. Chad was responsible for operations, engineering, support, regulatory and business functions—including responsibility for mainframe, large mid-range, distributed, network, client and data protection. He managed staff and facilities in England, India, China, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, Germany and Africa. Due to the success of his team, Network World Magazine named him one of the 50 most powerful people in networking in 2006, along with Bill Gates and Larry Ellison.

    Prior to the merger between Bank One and JPMorgan Chase & Co., Chad was responsible for the creation and leadership of Bank One's key incident-response organization called Priority One Management. He has also held multiple, senior technology risk and controls positions at TEKsystems and CompuServe.

    Chad attended Connecticut College and Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. He is frequently requested by industry analysts, publications, and forums to share his expertise in organizational development in operations, information technology, cutting-edge concepts and market leading technologies.

    He is board member for multiple for-profit and nonprofit companies and is involved with many philanthropic organizations, such as Leaderspark. Chad lives in Carver, Minnesota (west of Minneapolis) with his wife Robin and three daughters Suzanne, Kennedy and Cassidy. He is an avid golfer, a private pilot, and he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.

  • Dave Notch

    Dave Notch currently serves as Chief Information Security Officer for Thomson Reuters. He is responsible for leading the corporate level programs for information security, business continuity, disaster recovery and technology related audit and compliance activities. Notch has served a number of roles related to risk management, security, architecture and engineering and operations during his 18 years in the technology industry. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology.



  • Enrique Salem
    President & CEO
    Symantec Corporation


    Enrique Salem is president and chief executive officer of Symantec, a global leader in providing security, storage and systems management solutions to help consumers and organizations secure and manage their information-driven world. Salem is also a member of Symantec’s board of directors.

    Throughout his 16-year tenure at Symantec Salem held a variety of senior management roles, giving him broad experience across Symantec’s products and operations. Most recently he served as chief operating officer, with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the company. Prior to that, he served as group president, Worldwide Sales and Marketing where he managed global sales and partner programs, marketing, communications and branding.

    Before joining Symantec, Salem was president and CEO of Brightmail, the leading anti-spam software company that was successfully acquired by Symantec in 2004. From 2001 to 2002, he served as senior vice president of products and technology at Oblix Inc., where he spearheaded corporate strategy and development by leading the company's engineering, product management, and technology groups. Prior to Oblix Inc., Salem was vice president of technology and operations at Ask Jeeves Inc. responsible for the engineering group and the company's entire IT operation. Salem joined Symantec in 1990 through the Peter Norton Computing acquisition and held a number of leadership positions, including vice president of security products and the company’s first chief technology officer.

    Earlier in his career, Salem was a vice president at Security Pacific Merchant Bank, where he led projects for the development of real-time trading systems.

    In 2010, Salem received the Estrella Award by the Hispanic IT Executive Council (HITEC) which recognizes individuals for their vast achievements in the IT industry and in the community He was also named 2007 Corporate Executive of the Year by Hispanic Net as well as 2004 Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst and Young. Salem currently serves on the board of directors of Automatic Data Processing Inc (ADP).

    Salem received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Dartmouth College.
